The present Church of San Francesco dates back to 1632, when a former place was worship was reconstructed. This religious edifice is a notable tourist sight of Monterosso al Mare by force of the fact it gathers a fair amount of works of art, with highlights like a 1529 marble triptych by Domenico Gare, a Dead Christ by Maragliano and two canvases by Flasella, not to mention the Crucifixion by Van Dyck.
